Any day now...

So, I haven't kept up with this as often as I hoped (seems my fate when it comes to blogs) but I do want to share something pretty significant... Anyday now, I will be an AUNT! I am really excited about this! This will be my first experience as a "real" aunt (I am "Aunt" to several adopted siblings across the country).

My younger (he prefers this to "little" but oddly doesn't mind "baby") brother and his sweet wife will be having a baby girl. She's due October 31st (which I think would be a cool birthday) but we're all hoping that she surprises us and comes early (like on a Friday or Saturday, if she wants to make her Auntie happy). Her name is Blueberry! Ok, not really but that is what she will always be to me. The day my brother and sis-in-law broke the news to us, I was intent on giving her (which I was always convinced she would be a girl) a cutsie nickname. The first thing that came to mind was "blueberry!" My dad (soon-to-be Poppy) looked at me with amazement and said "blueberry?!?!" In typical me-fashion, I reply, "yeah, I'm naming it Blueberry. What you got to say about that?" Of course, he had nothing but his big goofy "I-can-always-rile-my-daughter-and-win-her-back" smile. In the weeks that followed, I continued to call her blueberry completely convinced that she would be a girl so that I wouldn't need to edit it down to "blue" if I hadn't been correct. (My brother insisted that I could have just used his name instead, but where's the fun in that?!?!).

I've gone a little over the deep-end as far as shopping for her goes... A few weeks ago, we threw her a shower in Fayetteville and I wrapped 8 outfits... 5 of which had "I love my auntie" or "my auntie rocks" on them...

Plus mom (soon-to-be nana) and I made an adorable diaper cake! It was epic!

I am currently working on her blueberry Halloween costume (so, it would be really unfortunate if she came late!) and painting project for her toy box.

There are soo many things I can't wait to do with her... and despite my brother's concern, I'm not going to COMPLETELY spoil her.
